Navratri return gifts for kids visiting your golu or Bommala Koluvu

Navratri return gifts for kids are easier than birthday ones, because tradition already tells you what to give: children who come to see your golu or Bommala Koluvu go home with a little stationery. This guide covers what that tradition looks like, what fits in a ₹150 pack, which bags suit the festival and when to order for Navratri 2026. To build packs as you read, open Build Your Pack set to ₹150.

What are the traditional Navratri return gifts for kids at a golu?

Children are traditionally given small stationery, such as pencils, a pen set or sketch pens. Each woman visitor receives a thamboolam: a tray with kumkum, turmeric, betel leaves, flowers, fruit, sweets and a small gift. Guests often sing in front of the display and go home with sundal as prasadam.

The display has a different name in each language. Telugu families call it Bommala Koluvu, the "court of toys"; Tamil families say Bommai Kolu, and Kannada families Gombe Habba. It goes up on the first day of Navratri and comes down on the evening of Vijayadashami.

How do you plan packs for nine evenings of visitors?

Count families, not children. List who you will invite on each evening, note how many children each family brings, and add a few packs for children who come along with neighbours. Visitors spread across nine evenings, so ordering once is simpler than buying as you go. Our minimum is 5 packs and there is no maximum.

If your visitors range from toddlers to older children, keep to one pack that works across ages, such as a sketch set or a stationery set, rather than toys made for one age group.

What do you give the girls at Kanya Puja?

A small gift with your blessing. Many families in North India hold Kanya Puja on Ashtami or Navami: young girls, often nine of them with one boy, are invited home as forms of the goddess Durga, fed puri, chana and halwa, and sent off with a gift. In 2026, panchangs place Ashtami on 18 or 19 October and Navami on 19 October, so check the day your family follows.

The girls are usually of different ages, so the stationery that suits golu visitors works here too: a sketch set, a pen set or a complete stationery set. Ten packs cover nine girls and a boy.

Which stationery suits golu visitors?

Pencils, pens and sketch pens, the traditional trio, are all in our catalogue. In the Celebration Gifting catalogue on 7 October 2026, 50 of our 71 stationery products cost ₹125 or less.

Traditional gift	From our catalogue
Pencils	Changeable pencil, maze pencil, side-click duck pencil
Pen sets	10 in 1 pen, unicorn gel pen, character head pen, bubble stamp pen
Sketch pens and colours	Minion colour sketch set (12 pieces), wax crayons (10 colours), colour palette
Complete sets	Stationery set (pencils, scale, eraser, sharpener), Mickey pencil box set

What fits in a ₹150 golu pack?

A ₹150 pack holds up to ₹125 of products plus a ₹25 bag. Each pairing below fits; we checked the totals against catalogue prices on 7 October 2026.

Pairing	Good for
Minion colour sketch set and a unicorn gel pen	Children who like to draw
Stationery set, a 10 in 1 pen and wax crayons	A complete kit for school
Mickey pencil box set and a character head pen	Younger children starting school
Small colouring book, a 10 in 1 pen and a changeable pencil	Quiet colouring at home
Colour palette, a big colouring book and a maze pencil	A colouring project for the holidays

Telangana schools close for Dasara holidays around Navratri, so a colouring project gives children something to do during the break.

Most stationery comes in assorted colours and designs, sent based on availability. If you need a set number of packs for boys and girls, add the count in the Special Instructions box at checkout.

Which bag suits a Navratri visit?

Pick the flower theme or multicolour bag at ₹25; both look festive without a birthday print. For your family's name on every bag, choose the customised theme bag, printed on one side with any text you ask for, such as "With Navratri wishes from the Rao family". It costs more than the ₹25 bags, so keep the products to ₹110 or less for a ₹150 pack.

Every pack also includes a printed thank-you card. After you order, our team confirms its message with you on WhatsApp, for example "Thank you for visiting our Bommala Koluvu".

When should you order for Navratri 2026?

Navratri 2026 begins on Sunday 11 October, Maha Navami falls on Monday 19 October and Vijayadashami on Tuesday 20 October. Orders are dispatched within 2 to 3 business days, then take 1 to 2 days within Hyderabad and 3 to 5 days to other cities. So an order placed by Saturday 10 October should reach Hyderabad by Friday 16 October, in time for the last weekend of Navratri, and other cities by Monday 19 October.

For Kanya Puja outside Hyderabad, 19 October can be too late if your family keeps Ashtami on 18 October, so order as early as you can. For next year, order a week before Navratri begins, so packs arrive before your first visitors.

Which combos fit a golu evening?

If you would rather not pick items one by one, these two combos centre on drawing and stationery. The Kids Creative Activity Combo pairs a colour palette and a big colouring book with a projector toy, and the Smart Value Pack has a stationery set, a glass water bottle and a keychain. Both come in a Happy Birthday bag, so swap it for a flower or multicolour bag after tapping Select Combo.
