> In Hyderabad, plan about ₹34,000 to ₹38,000 for 20 children at home, ₹78,000 to ₹1,06,000 for 40 in a party hall, and ₹99,000 to ₹1,33,000 for 70. The hall, food and decor are the big costs. Return gifts at ₹150 a pack, with 10 spares, add ₹4,750 to ₹12,000 including delivery.

## Key takeaways

- The hall, food and decor make up most of a party budget; return gifts are about a tenth.
- Hyderabad halls listed on VenueLook charge ₹550 to ₹750 per veg plate, plus taxes.
- Return gifts for 20, 40 and 70 children (with 10 spares) cost ₹4,750, ₹7,650 and ₹12,000, including delivery.
- At 80 packs or more at ₹150, an order passes ₹10,000 and delivery is free.

A kids birthday party budget in India depends on three things above all: where you hold it, how many children come, and how much food you serve. This guide prices parties for 20, 40 and 70 children in Hyderabad, line by line, using our team's local estimates and published prices, and shows where return gifts fit, including how our delivery bands change the total. ## What does a kids birthday party budget cover?

Five main lines: the venue, food, the cake, decor and return gifts. Entertainment and photography come on top if you want them; we have left them out because their prices vary too much to estimate fairly.

| Item | Typical cost in Hyderabad | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Party hall | ₹30,000 to ₹50,000 | Our team's estimate |
| Food | ₹550 to ₹750 per veg plate, plus taxes | VenueLook listings for two Hyderabad halls, checked 7 October 2026 |
| Cake | About ₹3,000 | Our team's estimate; regular cakes ran ₹620 to ₹900 a kg at one Hyderabad bakery (Siasat, December 2024) |
| Decor | About ₹15,000 | Our team's estimate |
| Return gifts | From ₹150 a pack, plus delivery | Our prices, as of October 2026 |

On VenueLook, [Hh Function Hall in Langer Houz](https://www.venuelook.com/hyderabad/hall-1-of-hh-function-hall-in-langer-houz) lists ₹550 per veg plate and [Celebrations Banquet Halls in Manikonda](https://www.venuelook.com/hyderabad/hall-1-of-celebrations-banquet-halls-in-manikonda) ₹750, both plus taxes. Many halls price by the plate instead of charging a hire fee; if yours does, drop the venue line below.

## What does a party for 20, 40 or 70 children cost?

We costed three common sizes: 20 children at home, and 40 or 70 in a party hall. Food is counted for the children only, at ₹550 to ₹750 a head. Return gifts follow the rule we give parents: order 10 packs more than the children you invite.

| | 20 children, at home | 40 children, party hall | 70 children, party hall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Venue | ₹0 | ₹30,000 to ₹50,000 | ₹30,000 to ₹50,000 |
| Food for the children | ₹11,000 to ₹15,000 | ₹22,000 to ₹30,000 | ₹38,500 to ₹52,500 |
| Cake | ₹3,000 | ₹3,000 | ₹3,000 |
| Decor | ₹15,000 | ₹15,000 | ₹15,000 |
| Return gifts (with 10 spares, at ₹150) | ₹4,750 (30 packs) | ₹7,650 (50 packs) | ₹12,000 (80 packs) |
| Total | ₹33,750 to ₹37,750 | ₹77,650 to ₹1,05,650 | ₹98,500 to ₹1,32,500 |

Two adjustments most families need. If each child comes with a parent who eats, add the food line again. And for 70 children you will want a bigger cake than for 20; at the per-kg prices Siasat reported, each extra kilo adds ₹620 to ₹900.

## How do return gifts fit into the budget?

They are about a tenth of the total: between 7 and 14 percent across the three parties above. Delivery is charged once per order, and as of October 2026 it is ₹250 under ₹5,000, ₹150 from ₹5,000 to ₹9,999, and free from ₹10,000. That is why the three sizes land differently:

- **20 children:** 30 packs at ₹150 come to ₹4,500, so delivery is ₹250.
- **40 children:** 50 packs come to ₹7,500, so delivery is ₹150.
- **70 children:** 80 packs come to ₹12,000, so delivery is free.

For 40 children, spending ₹200 a pack instead of ₹150 brings 50 packs to exactly ₹10,000 with free delivery. That costs ₹2,350 more than the ₹150 version, for packs worth ₹50 more each. Our guide on [how many return gifts to order](/blog/how-many-return-gifts-to-order) explains the 10-pack buffer.

## Where can you save without it showing?

- **The venue.** A home, a terrace or a community clubhouse removes the biggest line. Our guide to [return gifts for 50 kids](/blog/return-gifts-for-50-kids) covers clubhouse parties.
- **The decor.** Balloons and a banner you put up yourself usually cost less than a decorator's package, especially at home.
- **The cake.** A regular cake costs less than a fondant theme cake, and Siasat found one Hyderabad bakery doubling some prices around New Year, so avoid peak dates if you can.
- **Not the return gifts.** They are already the smallest line, and the spare packs are what save you from a child leaving empty-handed.

## How does this compare with other estimates?

Ours come out higher for bigger parties. VenueLook's [budget birthday guide](https://www.venuelook.com/blog/how-to-plan-a-budget-friendly-first-birthday-celebration) puts a small home party at ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 and a venue party with decor and catering at ₹25,000 to ₹60,000. The gap comes mainly from the separately hired hall and full decor in our Hyderabad estimates, and from counting 40 or 70 children rather than a small first birthday. Treat every figure here as a starting point and check current prices with your venue and baker.

## What if your party is outside Hyderabad?

Venue, food and decor prices change from city to city, so swap in local quotes for those lines. The return gift line stays the same anywhere in India: the same pack prices and delivery bands apply, and delivery to other cities takes 3 to 5 days after dispatch.

## Which combos keep return gifts on budget?

These two combos sit at the low end of our range. The Play Mania Hamper has a spring toy, a small card clay set and a Rubik's keychain; the Tiny Tots Lunch Pack, tagged Bestseller on our site, pairs a glass water bottle with an insulated lunch bag.

**Return gift combo:** [Play Mania Hamper](https://www.celebrationgifting.in/combos/play-mania), ₹155 per pack

**Return gift combo:** [Tiny Tots Lunch Pack](https://www.celebrationgifting.in/combos/tiny-tots-lunch-pack), ₹215 per pack

Both come in a Happy Birthday bag. For more ways to fill a ₹150 pack, see [return gifts under ₹150](/blog/return-gifts-under-150).

## Quick answers

### How much does a kids birthday party cost in India?

It depends most on the venue and the guest count. Using Hyderabad prices, about ₹34,000 to ₹38,000 for 20 children at home and ₹78,000 to ₹1,06,000 for 40 in a party hall.

### How much should I spend on return gifts?

Our packs start at ₹150 per child. For 40 children plus 10 spares, 50 packs cost ₹7,500 plus ₹150 delivery, about a tenth of a party hall budget.

### How much does a birthday cake cost in Hyderabad?

Our team's estimate for a party cake is about ₹3,000. Siasat reported regular prices of ₹620 to ₹900 a kg at one Hyderabad bakery in December 2024, with prices rising around New Year.

### Is a home party much cheaper?

Yes, mainly because there is no hall to hire. Food, cake, decor and return gifts still add up; for 20 children we estimate ₹34,000 to ₹38,000, less if you do the decor yourself.

### How can I get free delivery on return gifts?

Order ₹10,000 or more. 80 packs at ₹150, or 50 packs at ₹200, both get there.
