# Bhogi Pallu return gifts for the children at your Sankranti ceremony Source: https://www.celebrationgifting.in/blog/bhogi-pallu-return-gifts Published: 2026-11-01 Publisher: Celebration Gifting (https://www.celebrationgifting.in) > For the children who join your Bhogi Pallu on Thursday 14 January 2027, a small piggybank makes a fitting return gift, because coins are part of the shower; colouring sets and magic water books suit the youngest. Pack them in a flower or multicolour bag, and order by Monday 28 December to stay clear of New Year holidays. ## Key takeaways - Bhogi falls on Thursday 14 January 2027, the day before Makar Sankranti on Friday 15 January. - Coins are poured over the children with regi pallu and flowers, so a piggybank gives them somewhere to keep them. - For the youngest guests, a magic water book or a big colouring book is safer than anything with small parts. - Order by Monday 28 December, so packs are dispatched before New Year and arrive by 5 January anywhere in India. Bhogi Pallu return gifts are a small kindness for the children who come to watch your child's ceremony, or to be showered alongside them: they go home with something of their own. Bhogi falls on Thursday 14 January 2027, and this guide covers what suits the occasion, what fits a ₹150 pack, which bags to use and when to order so the packs arrive before the Sankranti holidays. To build a pack as you read, open [Build Your Pack set to ₹150](/buildyourpack/150). ## What happens at a Bhogi Pallu? On the evening of Bhogi, the first day of the Sankranti festival, families gather the fruits of the harvest, such as [regi pallu](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhogi) (Indian jujube) and sugarcane, with flowers of the season. Money is often mixed in, and the mixture is poured over the young children of the house, who then collect the coins and the fruit. When relatives and neighbours come with young children, a return gift for each is a kind way to thank them. Bhogi 2027 is on Thursday 14 January, according to Drik Panchang, with Makar Sankranti on Friday 15 January. ## What are good Bhogi Pallu return gifts? Something that connects to the day, or something a small child can enjoy straight away. - **A piggybank.** Coins are part of the Bhogi Pallu shower, so a piggybank gives each child a place to keep theirs. In the Celebration Gifting catalogue on 7 October 2026, 7 of our 173 products are piggybanks; the plastic character piggybank and the mini Mickey piggybank fit a ₹150 pack. - **A magic water book.** Children paint with water and the colours fade as it dries, so it can be used again, with no mess on festival clothes. - **A big colouring book with wax crayons.** Simple, cheerful and suited to most ages. The mini Mickey piggybank comes with a lock and a small key, so hand the key to a parent if the child is very young. For toddlers, the plastic character piggybank or a magic water book avoids small parts. ## What fits in a ₹150 Bhogi Pallu pack? A ₹150 pack holds up to ₹125 of products and a ₹25 printed bag. Each pairing below fits; we checked the totals against catalogue prices on 7 October 2026. | Pairing | Good for | |---|---| | Plastic character piggybank and a pocket colouring book | Coins and colouring | | Mini Mickey piggybank and stickers | Older children who can manage a lock and key | | Magic water book and a big colouring book | Toddlers and preschoolers | | Plastic character piggybank, wax crayons and stickers | A piggybank with something to do | For older siblings who come along, a wooden or metal piggybank is sturdier, though it needs a pack budget above ₹150. ## Which bag suits Sankranti? A bag without birthday words. The flower theme and multicolour bags are our ₹25 printed paper bags with no words on the front, and both look festive. For your family's name on every bag, choose the customised theme bag, printed on one side with any design and text, such as "Bhogi Pallu wishes from the Rao family". It costs more than the ₹25 bags, so keep the products to ₹110 or less for a ₹150 pack; a plastic character piggybank with a pocket colouring book still fits. ## When should you hand the packs out? After the shower, once the children have gathered their coins and fruit. A child holding a fistful of coins and a new piggybank knows exactly what to do next, and the packs stay out of the way during the ceremony itself. Keep them in a basket by the door, and give one to each child as their family leaves, so no visitor is missed. ## How many packs should you order? Count the children you are inviting, family by family, then add a few for children who come along with their parents. The rule we give parents for birthdays is 10 spare packs; for a smaller Bhogi Pallu at home, fewer may do, but our minimum order is 5 packs. Our packs contain no food, so spares keep for the next family visit. ## When should you order for Bhogi? By Monday 28 December. That gets your packs dispatched by Thursday 31 December, before New Year, and delivered by Saturday 2 January in Hyderabad or Tuesday 5 January in other cities. We dispatch within 2 to 3 business days, then delivery takes 1 to 2 days within Hyderabad and 3 to 5 days elsewhere. The latest safe order days are Wednesday 6 January in Hyderabad and Sunday 3 January elsewhere, but 28 December leaves room for the New Year holiday. Our [3-week countdown](/blog/when-to-order-return-gifts) explains how we work out these dates. ## What should the thank-you card say? Every pack includes a printed thank-you card, and our team confirms its message with you on WhatsApp after you order. Keep it to 160 characters, such as "Thank you for coming to our Bhogi Pallu. Happy Sankranti! Love, Sri". ## Which combos fit a Bhogi Pallu? Both of these include a plastic character piggybank. The Little Wonders Hamper pairs it with a magic water book; the Happy Hands Hamper pairs it with a 12-colour air clay set. **Return gift combo:** [Little Wonders Hamper](https://www.celebrationgifting.in/combos/little-wonders), ₹175 per pack **Return gift combo:** [Happy Hands Hamper](https://www.celebrationgifting.in/combos/happy-hands-hamper), ₹200 per pack Both come in a Happy Birthday bag, so tap Select Combo, then go back to Packaging in Build Your Pack and choose the flower or multicolour bag.
